New Olsson Ruby Nozzle but now prints jam
I just got the Olsson Ruby nozzle for Christmas for my Prusa i3 MK3S and I installed it the way prusa shows on his YouTube video. At first when using wood filaments it was doing great. No layer shifting or gaps or jamming. I swapped to my mystic brown prusament and didn’t have any issues either until a couple of days ago.
Out of no where, it started to jam when I went to use my woodfill Hatchbox material.
at first it would just print and later on through the print you would notice it still printing but in mid air and not extruding.
now, it’ll start printing and I get all this clicking sound from the extruder.
ive tried the following:
loosening and tightening the thread to the extruder gears
I’ve tried multiple cold pulls
tried printing at higher temperatures and lower, and even slowed the speed down a good bit.
im not sure what else to try... a portion of me says it shouldn’t be the nozzle causing all this because 1) new nozzle... 2) it did fine for the first 30 ish hours of prints
any advice please ? I’m attaching a photo of what I got from an 8 hour print from prusament mystic brown...
RE: New Olsson Ruby Nozzle but now prints jam
If it were me with an expensive nozzle that is fragile, I would:
1) Use cleaning filament at the highest temperature filament you have been using. Maybe a bit higher.
2) If that does not help, remove the nozzle and examine it under a strong magnifying lens. Never use metal on that ruby...
Still seems like you have some type of debris stuck in the nozzle...

Try doing a cold pull.
Also I wanted to make sure you knew that you don’t need a Ruby or hardened nozzle to print wood filament. It prints just fine with a regular brass nozzle.

Just don't use the accupuncture needle!
