New MK3S with reinforced steel nozzle, I am having issues printing
Hi guys, I am relatively new to 3DP and today I changed the brass nozzle that came with my Prusa MK3S Kit with a Reinforced Steel one also sold by Prusa.
I understand I have to increase the temperature compared to when using the brass nozzle so I brought it to 230 degrees using PLA from Extrudr.
I did a 3x3 print for first layer (Z) calibration and everything seemed to look fine. But when I print something I see these results. I still cant understand if I still need to re-calibrate Z level higher or lower, its always tricky for me.
Any advice?
Thanks a lot for your help

Normally, good nozzles should not differ much in length (perhaps a few hundredths of a mm). Nevertheless, I would readjust the First z-layer after the change. Why do you use a steel nozzle for PLA?

On a whim, I recently ordered a tungsten carbide nozzle. I have not installed it yet, and will not until I finish with the current run of prints, but I figure with metallics and the like it would not hurt.
I am expecting to have to recalibrate the whole thing, and I would not be surprised if there are some other tweaks that might need to be made.

@karl-herbert
Hi there, well, my thinking is: apparently my original brass nozzle might be wear out, so if I change the nozzle for a reinforced stainless steel one, I wouldn’t have to worry so often to change the nozzle so often. I would like to avoid to exchange it every time I want to print in a specific material, so why not keeping this for all. Is this not recommended ?
