Move filament run out sensor higher?
On my MKS3 I print 20-hour jobs frequently. Most of the time, the filament runs out and the filament run out sensor trips correctly.
The problem is when I go to eject the last little bit of filament it almost always gets jammed and then I have to manually open the door and pry it out while hoping to not move the printhead and ruin the print job.
Has anyone thought about taking a filament run out sensor and putting it up at the top of the metal frame, halfway between the filament spool and the printhead? That way you would trick the machine to thinking the filament has run out while there would still be several inches sticking out of the printhead.
I wonder if you could repurpose the prusa mini filament sensor and put it on the the MKS3 and wire it into the same port the original sensor uses. You would have to figure out a way to attach that sensor to the top of the metal frame.
Does anybody else have this problem?
RE: Move filament run out sensor higher?
I have that happen more often than not when the filament actually runs out, I think even moving the sensor a few mm up and having the feed tube a little longer between the sensor and the gears could do the trick.

I consistently have the same issue. Did anyone come up with a fix?
