Motor Dampers?
Has anyone installed dampers on their motors? I'm curious to know if they're very useful for reducing noise on the MK3. It's already pretty quiet, but I'd like to do a bit more. I'm worried about introducing artifacts to my prints. I've looked at the dampers available on Amazon that are two steel plates with rubber between them, and also some designs on Thingiverse that are supposed to be printed in TPU.
Re: Motor Dampers?
they are not commonly used on the prusa mk3
I suspect they could lead to increased ringing by allowing motor movement!...

I suspected as much, but the Z motors are the only ones that are noisy for me. I figured those would be safe enough to not cause print artifacts.
Re: Motor Dampers?
Hi Karl, prusa printer is open source, you are welcome to try making improvements, but you may find that effectively moving the motor down with the damper, will dislodge the top of the leadscrew from the top Z axis brackets, and prehaps allow the smooth rods to move too as the top of the motor, normally stops the smooth rod passing through the motor bracket
which may cause more problems than it cures!
