Issue with upgrading from Pi Zero to Pi Zero 2
I had octoprint set-up on a Raspberry pi zero w through GPIO on my prusa mk3s and everything was working fine (albeit slow and without a camera) and now I've gone ahead and upgraded to a Pi Zero 2 and I can't seem to get a reliable connection to my printer. I've soldered on the pins and then have it installed directly through GPIO.
I've loaded octoprint onto my sd wiuth the Raspberry Pi Imager and then I'm able to access the web ui no problem and also ssh into it using putty and following the directions here I modify the serial port and disable bluetooth and then I can log into the web-ui and add the /dev/ttyAMA0 as the serial port and then I can get the pi to connect to the printer for a couple of minutes and then it loses connection and won't connect anymore. I've reformatted the card and tried a couple of times assuming that I messed up the Octopi install somehow but I always seem to get the same results. Rebooting the Pi Zero 2 doesn't seem to solve the connection issue, still can't connect at all after reboot.
One really odd thing is that if I take the sd with octoprint on it from the Zero 2 and put it into my old 1st gen pi zero and then install that into the mk3s I can connect to octoprint no problem. And then if I go and switch again to the new Pi Zero 2 again it works for a few minutes and then won't connect anymore.
Any thoughts or tips would be greatly appreciated. My best guess is something along the lines of bluetooth not actually disabling or something interfering with the connection...
RE: Issue with upgrading from Pi Zero to Pi Zero 2
I figured I'd go ahead and re-solder all my pins on the new Pi Zero 2 just in case I messed one up and I think that has fixed it... at least for the last 20 minutes or so. Thanks anyways for anyone considering giving a helping hand.
RE: Issue with upgrading from Pi Zero to Pi Zero 2
I just installed the Pi Zero 2 and am having the same intermittent connection issues that you stated. I've found that the connection does usually come back by itself after a few minutes, but am not exactly sure what the interval is between the downtime. My symptoms are exactly as you describe, when I lose the connection I cannot connect to the web server, or via ssh. Interestingly enough, I did run into a time when I could not connect to either, but when I opened the Octopod app on my phone I was still able to see the camera stream and connection information. I'm stumped on how that could have occurred.
I originally thought that maybe Octoprint was crashing and restarting, but seeing how the ssh connection also fails to work at the same time, I believe it must be connection related instead. I also took a glance at some of the syslogs and didn't see anything that would indicate a restart, but I'm also not exactly sure what to be looking at in the logs.
I'm curious if your resoldering the pins has solved the issue for good. I may try that as well as I'm also stumped into what the problem is currently.
