Ideas for wiring mod for mod: Heater block cables to main board

HI All.

New to the community. I run 2 MK3s+ units and it seems I'm always rebuilding the extruder-hotend module. *eye roll* Does anyone know of a "SAFE" way to mod the wires coming from the heater block to the main board? I'd love to put a safe connector back in the flexible harness so that when I want to replace the heater block (which I do often!) all I have to do is cut the wires on the new heater block, attach a connector and simply insert it into the one that's in the flexible harness.

I know I couldn't be the only dude who's thought of this!  Please help.

Yeah you aren't the only one.  I have done it on my modified MK3.  No need to cut things though.  You will have to redo the cable bundle but instead of using the supplied prusa heater cartridge and thermistor you just use some alternatives from E3d (who supply prusa with the original parts).

The heater cartridge https://e3d-online.com/products/high-precision-heater-cartridges?variant=31134327570491   has a connector inline.  So you can replace with this one and it then has a connector which you can swap in heater cartridges without having to redo the wiring harness each time.

Same with the thermistor.  https://e3d-online.com/products/thermistor-cartridge

I can now swap hotends easily.  Made fitting a dragon much easier as I'd already done the cable connector modification previously when I rebuilt the extruder to a geared one.

That's awesome! Thank you so much for replying so quickly! Very grateful!

I'll give these a look today!

I have firmware issues with these older models but that's a post for another day!

Thanks again.
