Uploading to the printer always takes several minutes, and sometimes nothing happens at all even though the printer is ready. What can be done about this?

Repeat 'Add negative volume'

Using PrusaSlicer 2.9.5 I would like to trim a couple of aspects of an stl by using the 'add negative volume' tool. The stl is a representation of our village obtained through the map2model.com site and although the result is mostly very good I need to trim a couple of buildings as one is too tall and one is too long. I can add negative volume to either one but not both to obtain the result I need. Researching this it seems that the effect is only applied when the model is sliced so there is no way back to apply the effect again. Unless you know different?

Change filament in multiple tools at single layer change (XL5T)?

Hey all, I'm trying to do an 8-colour print. I've designed a model (only 4 layers thick) where I need to swap 3 colours from 3 of my tools at the start of layer 3. Seems PrusaSlicer will only allow one change tool/filament change per layer? My model is thin, so I can't do the changes on subsequent layers. I've also tried queueing up M600 T1, M600 T2 using the custom G-Code but that didn't work at all, print just continued through without any changes.

Reading about this, seems I might need to trigger a pause/grab the tool I want to change mid-layer? Is this possible? Any other thoughts?

Brother HL-L3230CDW not detected over USB driver installation fails

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing a weird problem with my Brother HL-L3230CDW printer (laser) and I'm kindly asking if anyone of you has come across something like this.

When the printer uses power only, it behaves perfectly fine. However, as soon as I plug it directly to my computer using USB, it seems that Windows does not recognize it correctly. Most of the time, it either appears as an unknown device or even during the driver installation, it cannot be found.

Besides trying to have an idea about the nature of the problem, I have done these things:

Changed USB ports (USB 2.0 and USB 3.0)

Got a different USB cable

Rebooted both the printer and the PC

Uninstalled old printer drivers and then reinstalled them

However, the Brother driver installer is stuck on "No machine found" and is unable to finish the installation.

I am sharing here the link of the driver package which I have downloaded from the official Brother support site:

Also a driver package from a different source, which I was thinking of using:

Currently, Windows appears to identify something (sometimes it says "USB composite device"), but definitely not as a printer.

Does anybody else here have a similar experience with Brother printers failing USB detection during driver setup? Any help would be highly appreciated.

PrusaXL 2T prompts filament change

For some reason when starting the print, the toolhead 2 always prompts a filament change.

ive tried cleaning the sensor, but that didnt help.
Last time i checked, the hotend didnt reach the needed temperature, while trying to print the first calibration line, it cant because its too cool. Then it prompts the filament change, reaches the temperature for it and after that it just prints

Here are a few of my suggestions on how I think Prusa could make Printables better?

Printables needs a Rules page like the one Shane wrote for this forum. How can you enforce the rules if no one knows or understands what the rules are.
You need to print and take pictures of your models.
No AI pictures.
Change the Prusameters system. Instead of giving people Prusameters for downloads change it to Makes.
Let us use our Prusameters at Printed Solid.
Models need at least 1 download per year or it’s deleted.

Inherited Prusa XL 5 head

My father passed a while ago and I have inherited his Prusa XL 5 head. I just got it home and I'm at a loss of where to begin. I've used resin printers before, but never a filament printer, and the person I would normally ask is no longer around to ask.

Where do I begin, what do I need to learn first, and what needs to be done or watched or read first to get started?

PET-CF config

I bought a spool of Siraya Tech PET-CF. On my Core One there isn’t a PET choice when loading filament. What do I do?
