E3D Nozzle Sizes and Recommendations

I was going to buy a few extra nozzles from E3D. Wanted to know if anyone had any recommendation on sizes and types?

Also has anyone had any experience with some of there other accessories like the sock?

Re: E3D Nozzle Sizes and Recommendations

I had the pro sock with the small hole at the extruder.
A print became dislodged off the build plate. The freshly extruded plastic found its way out. Between the sock and heat block. Creating the blob of Doom...
Breaking the thermistor wires and makink a right mess...

YMMV.

I have the pro socks on my MK3.
But after a couple of small pieces from the area where the tip of the nozzle breaks thru fell of, i decided to cut out that area.
Now they look like the "normal" socks and work well.
I won´t by the pro´s again.

Does anybody have tips for getting the "pro" to work properly?

I was hoping to keep the nozzle clean, but I had the same issue with molten plastic getting between the sock and the nozzle, drawing more in and starting to blob underneath. Good thing I caught it early, sorry @joan.t about your blob of doom 🙁

I haven't cut one up yet since I was hoping to use them to keep the nozzle clean.

The problem with the pro socks is that the central whole is a bit inconsistant. I was lucky in that the pack of three I brought two of them were correctly drilled. What you want is one in which the tip of the nozzle is exactly flush with the sock and there is no gap between the start of the nozzle cone and the sock.
