Bowden tube connectors and tube limitations

I’m almost ready to try some more exotic materials and have some Treed Carbonium and Longchain Nylon. Despite Treed advice that both are low hydroscopic I think I will make a humity control spool box. I’m thinking to fix connectors to the side of the box and then connect a printer side Bowden tube to which ever connector is needed. I’ve seen designs for boxes https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2929701/comments but I have a couple of specific questions;

  • is there a practical length limit for the Bowden tube?

  • Once the Bowden tube is in place and feeding at the top of the printer does it matter where the box is located (eg above, below front back side of printer)

  • Specifically what sort of connector(s) should I get?

  • Ideally I would like the filament to slightly hang out and be supported by the ferrule fixed on the box.
    As always thanks for any help.

  • is there a practical length limit for the Bowden tube?

  • distance from the dry box won't be an issue if you have good tubing and a well constrained path

  • Once the Bowden tube is in place and feeding at the top of the printer does it matter where the box is located (eg above, below front back side of printer)

  • no, you can put those connectors wherever you want if you follow those other rules above. be advised that the extruder is torquey enough to pull that box off of a shelf when the spool runs dry, so weight it down
  • Specifically what sort of connector(s) should I get?

  • they're all the same cheap junk on amazon, threading doesn't matter since you're going to but gluing it onto a drybox anyway. I didn't bother and printed some cable glands that work all right.
