automatic build plate changer

Hello,

i didn't know if the user mods forum would be the good place...
Anyone knows about a project like the one in the video?

Where an external machine changes the build plate of the printer as the printer finished the print?

I know that I saw a small flash in a video of a maker fair or in another 3D printer event where there was something similar that was changing the build plate of a MK3 I3. But with the quantity of videos and articles I read about the subject I couldn’t find it again. If anyone has info I would appreciated of something similar i would be really grateful 😀 😀 😀
thanks! franco

Hi Franco,

I have seen that on a commercial machine, but not yet on the I3

If you don't ask, nobody will guess what you are looking for!

I am not convinced that a machine could consistently pop the prints off the build plates for re use... but even if the machine could change and store say two full plates for human intervention, that alone could increase potential production volumes significantly.

ahahaha in spanish we have the phrase " you have a no as answer even if you dont make the question, so make it"

yeah, as i am someone that is working with it 24/24 but is not at my place sometimes i find myself with times wasted, and as is not a really complicated project (compared with other things that people came up here and there....) and the benefits are clear, having 5 or 6 possible plate changers for to cycle between them and only come when there is already used 4 or 5 would be crazy and extremely helpful.

I think most people with such a need just use multiple printers.... which is better anyway because you can print in parallel, rather than only serially.
