"Aftermarket" powder coated print bed - have you seen this?

First, apologies for not having a picture handy to post. I ordered a mk3 a couple of weeks ago and when I realized that I could not get the powder coated sheet with it, I went searching for other sources. I had heard good things about one available from Amazon, but at that point they were out of stock.

Google pointed me to another source: partsbuilt.com where I found a powder coated spring steel sheet with what looked to be actual Prusa markings. As in, the front right corner had the "Original Prusa i3 MK3" label I see in a lot of the videos of this machine at work. The grid markings on the part look a bit different - kind of a dingy brown color instead of the brighter white I usually see.

Has anyone else bought one of these? If so, how well does it work? How is it that a supplier in Ohio has parts with the Prusa branding on them? Especially as Prusa has been very public about their production challenges with the powder coated bed? When I have a chance to get a picture of it, I'll post one. Maybe that will help someone figure out what's going on.

My printer hasn't actually arrived yet, so I can't comment on performance or fit of the bed as yet. Printer is due on Monday! 😀

If you ordered it you may be the guinea pig.... I looked on the site and couldn't find the sheet you're talking about.

I've purchased some specialty FormFutura filaments from partsbuilt.com with no issues. They are legit. I did find a BuildTak sheet in their assortment, but nothing like you've described. Do you have a link to a product page? Did it actually show as in-stock?

This is so weird. If I didn't have the package sitting at home right now, I wouldn't believe myself. I can't get to the site from my desktop at work, but a quick search with my phone reveals nothing like what I bought just a couple of weeks ago! So strange.

Does your order history include a link? I'm able to see my past orders on partsbuilt.

Did you order the PC textured bed from partsbuilt? Are you saying you've received one, or something else? Reading your original post, it sounded like you ordered a full printer from Prusa.

Let's see if I can clear it up a bit:

I ordered a Prusa i3 MK3 from the Prusa website, but they do not currently offer it with the powder coated build plate.

So I started searching the web for a substitute for the powder coated build plate as the consensus seems to be that it works better with fewer problems than the PEI-sticker build plate that Prusa is currently shipping with their printers.

Google pointed me to www.partsbuilt.com with a link specifically to a "Prusa Textured PEI Powder-coated Spring Steel Sheet" - (language direct from the shipping notice I got via email). Item number according to the email is "PRUSA-FLXBED".

I ordered one and it has arrived. It's sitting in my house waiting for my printer to arrive. Since it looked like a pretty good product (admittedly I'm brand new to 3d printing, so all I have to go on is what I've seen in youtube tutorials and such), I wanted to make others here aware of it as it seemed like a good alternative while Prusa gets their manufacturing stream sorted out.

I'm guessing that partsbuilt.com has run out of stock, but it seems odd to remove the listing entirely rather than just mark it as "Out of Stock". Sorry to have gotten anyone's hopes up.

Here's where my ignorance comes in. How do I post images? I really don't want to have to upload them to a hosting site in order to then post a link or whatever, but that's what it looks like happens here?

there is an attatchments button below the message bos, when replying,
click on the attachments button , and an add files button appears,
click on the add files button, choose file and open,

file loads a little further down the page

go back to the message box,

click where you want the file to appear, and then click place in line, next to the file name....

you can usually attach three files.

things like STl files need to be zipped, and the zip file attached...

Not to thread-jack, but who makes that recycled colored filament? I'm only finding black and semi-translucent-ish recycled filament.

[Edit: Found it. Fillamentive. Not available in the US.]

So it would seem. I feel badly though. I just wanted to let others know what I had found so they could take advantage as well. I had no idea they were out of stock already. Apologies if I got anyone's hopes up!

I contact the seller. They only had 5 and do not have any more on the horizon. Congrats on the find.
