Slic3r Prusa Edition has large gaps in some sliced models
I've noticed this a few times, that Slic3r Prusa Edition has some gaps in sliced models, where it just inserts a few millimeters of air into a print.
(using the latest version of Slic3r PE here)
Like on the Thingiverse Dragon Skullmodel.
(Model is by Makerbot, so I doubt their models were made with Google SketchUp)
Slicing the same model with Simplify3D or Cura works without problems.
I can somewhat repair the model with a bit of trial and error in Netfabb.
Re: Slic3r Prusa Edition has large gaps in some sliced models
The model has errors - look at the lower right of your screen capture, it says it corrected 183 errors. Must be some errors slic3r can't correct that perhaps the other slicers correct automatically.
I repaired the file with MeshMixer and then it sliced with slic3r PE without these defects.
What does whether or not the model is made with SketchUp have to do with this?
