recommended way to make a "badge" from a *.png picture file
hi at all,
I've got a two colored pictogramm and want to make a 3d printed badge or door-sign out of it.
maybe with some added text.
what would you recommend as an easy procedure (with common available freeware) to perform this ?
thanks in advance for your ideas / ways...

Inkscape to convert to SVG. Import SVG into Tinkercad.

Re: recommended way to make a "badge" from a *.png picture file
hmmm.... not as simple as expected.
tinkercad always crashes my browser, as soon as I try to import the *.svg.
this autodesk stuff is really instable, may it be fusion360, the old 123D-design or even the browser based tinkercad.
as soon as things get a little bit complex, they suck... 👿

Try different settings in inkscape for your svg. I had the same problem, now it works, but don'tk know that I've changed 😕

glad to hear (read) that I'm not the only one with this kind of problem 😀 .
searched @ google for "png2svg" and found a website with an online-converter tool.
now the generated *.svg works inside tinkercad.

Jeff, the S3D AddIn -Convert Image to 3D- does not work in this case?
Re: recommended way to make a "badge" from a *.png picture file
While I hesitate to recommend a very limited piece of software, the free 3D Builder app that comes with Windows 10 does a pretty good job of taking an image file, including png, and converting it to 3D.
It's also pretty good at repairing models that won't properly import in slic3r.

🙄 never noticed that plugin before... but it works quite well !
thanks for the hint 😀
@tom.b6: managed to get rid of every potential win10 installation here, simply because I severely dislike the whole win10 concept.
