Moving files from Slic3r to SD card not working.
Hi,
Has anyone had problems saving a file from moving saved g-code files from Slic3R to the SD card provided by Prusa? For some reason it will not let me do it. I dont have problem in Cura. There is an extra .tmp added at the end of the file....????
Re: Moving files from Slic3r to SD card not working.
slic3r is sometimes very slow. and it might take hours until the .gcode is finally completed (if it'll ever be completed). so if you try to copy the file to your sd card before slic3r is ready, it'll fail (due to obvious reasons).
in previous versions of slic3r, there was already an unfinished/incomplete *.gcode file generated. and if you've been impatient and copied that file to your sd card.... you might have noticed it only at the end of a failed print, where the printer simply stopped with a left over, incomplete model.

Was having the same problem, so I started the slice and went to work. When I got home 10 hours later it was done. So I have no idea how long it really took. 😕

Thanks Jeff,
Yes that makes sense, Slic3r seems to be slow. I tried to use it for some small 20mm x 20mm test square prints to play with it and those had no problem. However I did not get very good prints from it. I had much better success using Cura. Its an interesting adventure so far 😯

What are you computer specifications? Would you please document your performance issues into https://github.com/prusa3d/Slic3r/issues
so we can look into it?
Fairly large G-codes take around 5-7 minutes to slice on my high end Windows laptop, the G-code around 1-2 minutes with our Slic3r profiles, when using the latest Slic3r 1.34.1 beta

Thanks,
