Flashing issues
Yesterday I flashed the firmware (v2.2) 4-5 times (I was underextruding and was trying to adjust steps per mm for extruder, that went ok).
I noticed two things:
1) All but the first time, the LCD was filled with gibberish characters immediately after flashing. I had to powercycle
my RAMBO to get LCD back to normal. Looks like a communicaiton hickup between RAMBO and LCD. Is that normal?
2) I also tried to enable EEPROM functionality in LCD by commenting out the corresponding line in configuration.h (there are numerous videos
in youtube and tutorials all over the net explaining the exact same procedure). Well, nothing changed in LCD menu. Is this
supoosed to be done in a different way ?
Thanks,
Lazaros.
Re: Flashing issues
Hi Lazaros
First thing to note is that it is better to adjust for extruding differences in the slicer and not the firmware. Slicers generally have "Flow Tweak" settings for this purpose.
The next roll of filament you use may well require another change in firmware.
There are a few threads regarding the LCD Display issue with some interesting observations in this thread: http://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/prusa-i3-kit-building-calibrating-first-print-main-f6/new-fw-long-filename-autoscrolling-t384.html

Thanks, Peter.
Re: Flashing issues
Any hint regarding the 2nd part (EEPROM) ?
It seems impossible to enable functionality 🙁
Re: Flashing issues
Possibly because it's not available?
Just checked; it can be enabled in firmware, but only used via gcode.

Re: Flashing issues
That would explain it...Thought it was "base" feature...never mind.
Thanks again for the help.
Re: Flashing issues
It seems that this firmware is a previous version of Marlin which has been customised for RAMBo/Prusa.
There is functionality built into this firmware which is not in the current Marlin and vv.

Re: Flashing issues
We redid a big portion of the Marlin menus and disabled many things. Users often got lost and confused in the original Marlin LCD menu. You can however port all the configuration to regular marlin and use the printer without a problem.
