Do we lose any functions with OctoPrint

Got my Raspi/Octoprint setup and looking to try it out when I get home.

I thought when I was assembling my printer there was a notification in the instructions from PR of some sort that warned that using octoprint and similar 3rd party front-ends were not recommended because they didn't play well with the firmware changes. and I took that to mean that we lost mesh bed leveling or some other function that was unique to the printer.

Did I imagine that?

Bed leveling is a firmware feature that works regardless of how you are interfacing with the printer (printing from SD or via serial). To my knowledge, the only thing you lose when running via Octoprint is the progress indicater on the LCD, and there are Octoprint plugins that can remedy that through M117 commands.

Change filament from the LCD menu will work w/Octoprint as long as you do it quickly.

Sometimes it will time out at which point you may be able to continue if you do the following:

- Click on the terminal tab of octoprint - see if the pi is talking to the MK2.
- If you see timeouts then pause the print in Octo ( do not restart )
- Hit the resume in Octo.

I have only had this fail once, your mileage may vary.

If you will be doing a lot of color changes it may be a good idea to put the gcode on the SD card and not run from Octo.
