Default profiles from Cura 2.7 unusable?
Cura 2.7 came out and I was curious about ironing (aka neosanding) feature. It is supposed to have Mk2 profiles built-in:
Cura 2.3+ has Original Prusa i3 MK2 built in
Good thing I did review these settings and generated code. Stock profile has a default 2.85mm filament diameter and 100% fan speed for ABS - among other things. Perhaps I was spoiled by Slic3r's profiles, whose just work out of the box and require minimal tweaking to get perfect prints, but Cura's are not usable as they are. Things need to be changed to get a print out at all.
Even after changing obvious things, benchy was printing as an abomination, with so much curling that it warranted abort on grounds PINDA collision risk. I don't think there should be quoted statement on Prusa's website if these profiles don't actually work out of the box.
Re: Default profiles from Cura 2.7 unusable?
Ugh, I have re-read my post and there was a hideous case of editing undermining the actual statement. It's not that Cura proflies require tweaking to give perfect results, slic3r's one do that. Cura's just don't print at all if you don't edit them.
