Concerning .stl files

Hello!
I am new to 3d printing. I wanted to use Autodesk Inventor as the modeling software, as I already know it. Does the i3 MK2 accept .stl files to print from? If not, Does anyone know how else to print from Inventor?

You import the stl files into the slicer software.

Yeah, its that guy... 3D Nexus

What would cause slicer not to open an .stl file? When i try to load a configuration, they are all greyed out and i can't click on any of them.

Re: Concerning .stl files

As ancientwolf said, you need a slicer.

STL is just a collection of Vertex. The printer cannot use it like that.

A 3D printer is printing gcode, which is basically a list of instruction to move the extruder, push the filament in the extruder and give temperature directive for extruder and bed.

The slicer take the STL file and generate the gcode based on a printer profile.

So just export STL file from inventor, load it in the slic3r installed by the driver package, save the gcode file generated on the sd card, and print from it 🙂

I'm like Jon Snow, I know nothing.
