Z Calibration stability

Generally speaking I was wondering how stable people are finding their Z Axis. What I mean is that once you have gone through the whole process and found your sweet spot and you produced a great print. How long does it last before you have to start calibrating again when

1. You have moved to printer to another location
2. You have not moved the printer from its original location where is was calibrated.

Thanks,
Serge

Re: Z Calibration stability

I have to do it after every single print.
The printer show me the old z-Offset in live calibration, but it looks like; that the software don't use this value. I have to increment the z-Offset value at the beginning of every print by my value of 0.630mm.

I can't get this problem fixed. I tried the cooling time and cooling distance for the PINDA Probe, but I have still the same problem.

Regards
Tim

Re: Z Calibration stability

The Z adjustment will save if you set it using the calibration print. Most people prefer this https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/prusa-i3-kit-building-calibrating-first-print-main-f6/life-adjust-z-my-way-t2981.html#p30936 which has the code to save it as well.

Re: Z Calibration stability

Oh, it does only saves the z-position with these specific files?
🙄 😥 😐
Ok, then i will try it today again with the file from JeffJordan.

Thank you very much for this hint!

No, the Live Z Adjust value is stored when you accept the value by clicking on the knob.

quite right, but only if you ran at least once a gcode with the G87 command inside after xyz-calibration routine.
otherwise the printer will complain after each reset or power-up.

Re: Z Calibration stability

I have to calibrate almost every time because I have constantly growing Z calibrations. Sure wish there was a setting to turn off auto adjustment, since it works poorly for me. I have two other printers that use thumb screws. You can level them in 30 seconds, I never touch them after that and they always work perfectly. Reminds me of my auto-timezone setting clocks. Since I live in AZ and we don't do daylight savings time, my "stupid" clocks always have the correct timezone, but twice a year I have to reset the wrong timezones on my "smart" clocks.
