Z-axis threaded rods
I have a z-axis threaded rod that is horribly warped. It came that way and while it has been working fine, it is starting to bother me. Does anyone know where I might buy a good replacement, preferably in the USA to cut down on shipping times ? I don't feel right going to Prusa for a replacement since I have been using the printer for a few months.

You will never get a straight threaded rod, unless you go stainless and that's very expensive. Most hardware stores/DIY sheds will sell threaded rods by the yard/metre, and that's the cheapest way to buy them, as long as you don't mind cutting and finishing them yourself. You should be able to get metric wherever you are (5mm diameter, standard 0.8mm pitch).
Mine wobble worse now with the aluminium connector blocks. My Chinese clone Z rods (8mm) are much worse.
Basically, if the printer works with it, then keep it.

Re: Z-axis threaded rods
It's just bugging me. Makes me wonder if it having any effect on my prints. By looking at them I would say no.
Re: Z-axis threaded rods
Peter,
Which solid couplers did you get? Since I am looking at replacing the threaded rods I might as well replace those as well.
Re: Z-axis threaded rods
Just simple 22mm diameter aluminium couplers with 5mm centres. But you will have to print amended Z endstop holders and you will end up with a very squeaky Z axis. Best advice: Don't and Don't. I would go back to the plastic connectors on a rebuild. I don't have to look at the rods but I do hear continuous squeeks.
