Z axis calibration issue

After I finished my upgrade to the MK2, which took me somewhere around 12 hours with the disassembly and everything if I had to guess, I tried following all of the instructions in the pre-flight section but I suspect that I missed something. I also read the "everything you need to know" sticky.

I did the self test and there were a couple of adjustments needed on the x- and y- axes so the respective parts could hit the end stops but then it passed all of the tests. When it did the z- axis, it went down and just stopped juuuust above the board but didn't appear to touch it, so I thought that was all good. So I loaded some PLA filament and then used the calibrate z menu option under the settings menu (I did update the firmware) and then all hell broke loose, it went to the bottom left corner and dove into the bed. This was unexpected and I froze up for a few seconds. By the time I recovered, it had hit the bed like 6 times before I hit the "reset" button to stop it. So, in most of these spots there is a small dimple, but in the center(ish) theres a pretty decently deep gouge where metal is visible below the PEI cover. I suspect I may have to buy a new bed at some point, but what I can't figure out is how did it know to stop during the previous operation but it didn't detect the bed during the second?

Anyway, I selected auto-home and it went to the bottom left corner and stopped perfectly right above the bed with the PINDA sensor about halfway outside the dotted circle toward the LCD and ever so slightly to the left of centered along the x axis. I gather that I need to adjust the y-axis bolts to bring the the sensor up along the y-axis and center it over that spot? Also, I did adjust the PINDA probe to be lined up like it is depicted in the manual.

I'd post a picture, but I quit in disgust with myself after the bed crashing incident and am not at home.

I really, really, really wish I hadn't done this upgrade. It was mostly working fine before.

Re: Z axis calibration issue

My X-Axis is to the left exactly the same as yours and I have heard of no solution for adjusting. My bed is not as bad as yours but I have gouges in the Cover film that display in my prints.

Well, after doing some adjustments to get the probe centered in the dotted circle, all seems to be well. The biggest dimple in the center of the bed doesn't seem to be that bad, I'll have to see how it affects printing when I print something that covers it, but I was able to calibrate it fine using the "calibrate z" function, then do the v2calibration.gcode. Finally, I'm printing something from the sdcard and it is printing fine so far. Woo hoo!

Glad to hear! How did you adjust the X- axis to line up with the dot? Mine is about half way to the left.

Mine was too. I glued small piece of previously printed filament (about 2mm thick) onto the endstop-touching pad of extruder. It was the only way how to center z-probe on spot.

Todd, since my y-axis was so far off, I didn't get a good read on how off my x-axis was. Once I adjusted the y-axis I found that the x was almost perfect after all. If you x-axis is that far off, perhaps your x-axis end stop isn't pushed all the way outside? I guess it being as far off as you indicate couldn't be caused by that. Could you post some pictures?

This is where mine is aligning:
