Z-Axis Cable Wrap knocks prints off
Hi,
as the titel says, my Z-Axis Cable package (Creepy Face to Rambo) is knocking my prints off the build plate. It is just a bit too low and lies on the Buildplate when Z is homed. The Filamentstring is installed and mounted as described in the manual.
Anyone an Idea to improve this or what could be wrong with my Cablepackage? I guess this isn't the way it's supposed to be.

Are you sure you are talking about Z-axis cables? Not extruder cables? Z-axis cables are cables from Z-motors and they are (should be) on bottom of the frame.
Anyway, image of your assembly would be helpful.

I am not talking about the stepper motor cables. I mean the Cable packages with Extruder Temp sens, Heater Cadridge, Fan etc. which is going from the "Creepy Face to the Rambo". It is the Cable Package which moves with the Z-Axis.
Sorry if i expressed myself misleading.
EDIT: Photo Attached. The red Marked Cable Package is touching the print bed on low Z-Levels and if i make use of the whole build plate, it Scrapes over the prints slowly loosening them.

Nylon string is curled naturally. Before wrapping cables from extruder turn nylon string the way it curls up away from heatbed.

I had the same problem, but only when printing large and tall items. The cable (it is actually the extruder cable bundle, not the Z-axis cable) was a little bit too low. I cut the cable tie at the extruder end and then attached 2 new cable ties while holding the cable bundle upward. That was just a quick fix, I think I'll have to re-do that properly one day.

Nylon string is curled naturally. Before wrapping cables from extruder turn nylon string the way it curls up away from heatbed.
I had noticed this issue when I first built my printer, and attempted the first XYZ calibration. Thankfully, I had read on this forum about the need to rotate the filament so that it flexed upward. That solved the problem for me too!

That is what I have done in the past when the 3mm filament provided was ABS and it had snapped at one end. It is not an ideal solution as it can hinder larger prints.
It really is better to reassemble the cable bundle with the filament properly supporting the bundle and cable tied at both ends to support the filament.
I did find that the nylon filament goes a little limp over time and it will need refitting occasionally for best orientation/support.

In my opinion, Cable Chains are the answer. Tim started a really good design that I improved and am using now on my printer. I had the same issue. I hated having that X-Carriage cable bundle dragging across my print bed. Tim's Cable Chains move the Rambo connection point to near the USB port.
and an 8 inch (200mm) or greater caliper is recommended.

I don't think so. You will probably only extend time to next adjustment. 🙂
