Can you test switching the extruder motor and the z-motor with problem - if they are the same size - and see if the problem persist?

Hello everyone,

I have some major trouble during the XYZ calibration routine.

During the actual calibration the left motor is constantly moving the z axis downwards, like it should. The right motor actually does the same, but it also jumps back upwards every few seconds. The printer finds the first of the four calibrations points, but when it comes to the second, the X axis is already skewed, caused by the unequal movement of the Z motors. Calibration fails at this point. It looks very unhealthy.

- I swapped the Z connectors on the Rambo with no effect. It's the right motor every time.
- With disabled stepper motors or the move axis functions everything moves free and easy. No problems.
- All cables are fine. No damage.
- Tested with Firmware 3.09 and the latest original Prusa 3.0.12.

I can't find something similar in the forum. Maybe I used the wrong keywords?
Any ideas? I'm so thankful for any suggestions! 🙂

Since you swapped the two Z, and the problem persisted with the right motor, it is in the right sides:
1) Connector (check for loose crimp)
2) Cable (you checked - but you might want to double check)
3) The motor itself. I would replace it.

Back stepping like that is a sign that something is wrong in one of the four wires or the motor itself.
