X Motor Assembly Locked?

Question, second time building one of these but I forget. Is the X stepper motor supposed to be locked during assembly? All the other motors move freely. Curious before I get too far more along building this... Maybe it will unlock when wired up and powered on?

Re: X Motor Assembly Locked?

Hi Steve

No, it is not supposed to be locked. There is nothing to lock it, unless one of the bearings has seized up or one of the coils is stuck against the magnets.

Thanks. On with live support. Sent them a video. Hopefully a replacement will be sent quickly.

Re: X Motor Assembly Locked?

Curious on the live support end. No word from anyone for over 24 hours. Sent a video of the stuck x motor. Agent said a tech guy needed to look at it. Sent an email this morning to get an update. No response from anyone. Is it that hard to get a replacement motor?

This is a 2nd kit I bought through my company so it kind of looks embarrassing and strange sitting half built on my desk. The 1st kit for home works like a charm. It was an easy sell to the CIO. Love this printer but worried about this support side.

Where can I get a replacement x stepper motor same specs as this? Maybe it will be faster for me to buy it on my own.

This 2nd kit was not purchased through my account (but a colleague). Order: 201623630 Placed on 02/24/2016 07:06:47
I won't put his email / name here though.

Hope this can get resolved soon.
Thanks. ❓

Hi Steve

Support is usually extremely good and quick to respond. They may be busy; have patience.

Peter

EDIT: You should be able to complete the build, but don't cable-tie the motor wires. A replacement motor should just screw in place (insert 1 screw, put belt around pulley and pull the motor tight to screw the other 2 screws in place).

Thanks Peter. Yes, I have built the printer to that point; just waiting now. A support agent replied back to my email from this morning. She needs to get the answer from tech? We'll see what happens tomorrow. LOL impatience comes from the CIO who approved this outside of budget!

Yes, its in the UPS system as we speak. Should arrive by end of day Monday. Many thanks.

Support was awesome. Your entire infrastructure around this awesome printer is what makes this "the only" Prusa that matters. From support, to detailed kit instructions, to quality in all areas. Another happy customer!
