Wrong Hot-End supplied in kit?

Can someone (at Prusa?) tell me whether the Hot End we are supposed to get is the E3D V6 or the E3D Lite6? The Heat Sink is the non-symmetrical (wavy edged) type like the Lite6, with the PTFE tube running all the way through and looking at the pictures mine looks like an E3D Lite6:

http://e3d-online.com/Lite6-1.75mm-Universal

The Lite6 is only rated for use up to a maximum of 245 degrees on the E3D site, yet the Prusa firmware/software runs it at 255 for ABS!!

I thought it was supposed to come with the full V6 hot-end? 🙁

Its normal, E3D Lite6 is used in all kits.

I asked J.Prusa same question about ABS temperature and he said its OK and tested by them.

Thanks for the update roman.t. I wondered if that might have explained why mine has come apart and leaked PLA everywhere! Back to the drawing board I suppose. I might have to RMA it as I asked Prusa and they haven't got back to me yet with a way to clean and reattach it.

Is it possible to do a straight swap for a V6? IE, without having to change any other parts? Has anyone tried it?

Re: Wrong Hot-End supplied in kit?

Hi, your hotend leaked because you skipped a part of build manual where we write about tightening the nozzle while hot. This will prevent the leaking.

The 255°C for ABS won't affect the PTFE tube much more that let's say 190°C. But the truth is, the PTFE tubes fail from time to time. You can always contact our support to get a free replacement PTFE tube.

I prefer to use Lites, as the "bigger brother" has really weak thermal break which you can easily bend for example running first print with nozzle calibrated 1mm below the glass surface. Trust me, Lite is indestructible in this aspect 🙂

Full E3D is fully compatible with extruder design, just be careful we assemble heaterblock a bit differently so we get the cables on the left side of extruder.
To enable higher temps, you have to set new MAX TEMP limit in our marlin and flash it thru Arduino to your board 🙂

I didn't skip any part of the assembly instructions. Everything was as tight as it would go! The leak was from between the Heat Block and the Heat Break NOT the nozzle.

The PLA is stuck over the end of the Heat Break threads NOT the nozzle threads.

It needs to be tighten more. You can heat the nozzle with lighter while holding in nose needle pliers and carefully clean the threads. Heater can be heated from LCD menu and cleaned too. Assemble everything while hot, that should do the trick. Be careful not to break thermistor leads. 💡

OK, all fixed(ish) now. I picked out what PLA that I could using the tip of a precision screwdriver, then got rid of the rest by using the brush brush accessory on my Rotary Tool (think Dremel). I was worried that it would damage the parts but it worked a treat! I then reassembled the Hot-End using E3D's assembly guide. I think I will need a new piece of PFTE very soon though as the end of the one in the Hot-End was a little bit melted where it stuck out of the Heat-Break a little and has swelled and I can't pull it up a bit to fix it. I don't think it was assembled correctly when it was put together at Prusa as the nozzle even when fully tightened showed about 5mm-7mm of thread, and leaked a little right from the start, also the PTFE tube shouldn't have been sticking out of the end of the Heat-Break.
