When to use support material
I ordered back in November and now I'm waiting patiently for the delivery e-mail. In the meantime my dad is working up his list of things for me to build. (For the record I'm 41, and he is excited that I can now print him out car parts.) The first thing on his wish list is a horn button for a steering wheel. Drawing it was simple. Without attaching a picture it is basically an upside cup with a domed top.
What I am looking for is guidlines as to when to use support material. As draw this piece has a hole in the middle of it about 65mm in size. I'm guessing that is too much to try and bridge.
I'm not too concerned about this object, as I will probably split it into two pieces. This would leave me with a hollow cylinder and a solid dome, both of which should be simple.
Re: When to use support material
A nice guide about designing for 3D printing can be found here:

Helped me alot.
Re: When to use support material
That's a good read.
Thank you
