When fans fail are there any warning signs?

When fans fail, are there any warning signs?

- Do the bearings start to make the fans louder ( happens on my other 3D printer)
- Does the print quality go down from the filament get stuck in the cool end?

THis depends upon what causes the failure...

My part cooling fan has begun chattering. I can't hear it, but the fan is running slow.

if a wire breaks the part fan will just stop, this may cause droopy bridging and saggy prints...

if the hot end fan stops you are likely notice the reduced noise, and the extruder will misbehave...

When my extruder fan failed it just stopped I think it was a wire break. The PTFE tubing got soft and I had a jam in the heatsink within a few minuets.

Is the fan failing or just the wiring as mentioned in this thread:

To verify, does the fan that failed still spin up when power is supplied?

This is important so we can solve the issue since you may still get a fan failure with the upgrade fan mods if the root cause of the failure is the wires breaking in the harness.

For ref, here is a related post:

Thanks for any information you can share.
