i have an original 1.75mm prusa i3 with rambo 13A
firmware 2.2.4

can you help me?

Re: Titan Extruder probelms

Maybe a dumb suggestion, but did you try to invert the X motor plug on the Rambo card ?

I'm like Jon Snow, I know nothing.

Re: Titan Extruder probelms

There's not much else that could cause the X axis to travel in the wrong direction. You could try swapping the original extruder back to see if that helps.

Peter

P.S. a couple of comments...

That extruder looks very lop-sided. I hope the bearings will hold up...

Firmware is the only other possible issue - I guess you have uploaded a different firmware for the extruder; the firmware you uploaded may have an incorrect direction programmed.

Re: Titan Extruder probelms

Check Configuration.h:

#define INVERT_X_DIR false // for Mendel set to false, for Orca set to true
#define INVERT_Y_DIR false // for Mendel set to true, for Orca set to false
#define INVERT_Z_DIR false // for Mendel set to false, for Orca set to true

Re: Titan Extruder probelms

Nah, that firmware won't work. The Titan, I believe, is a geared extruder. The E motor will probably require inverting and the step count will be incorrect.

You will probably have to refer to the E3D documentation.

Re: Titan Extruder probelms

I also now see your X axis problem. The original extruder anchors the drive belt at the top and the Titan at the bottom, so you will have to reverse the X motor.

Peter

P.S. You will also have to have a crash course in C programming, and the use of the Arduino IDE...

Re: Titan Extruder probelms

I see E3D have been a tad naughty with this extruder... They give the link to the pre-compiled firmware and then they state:

"Titan requires user modification of stock firmware settings."

Yup, if you don't know how to do that then don't buy this product...

Personally, I think that if the firmware requires changing, then they should offer the support on how to make those changes...

Peter

P.S. You will find almost all you need to know if you search these forums.

No, you need to change the firmware. (Swapping the connector may work, but it's not designed that way.)

Compatibility

As briefly mentioned earlier, the plethora of Prusa i3's available makes assuring compatibility hard.

This guide assumes the following:

8mm Rods using LM8UU Bearings (or similar).
45mm Rod Spacing, ~15mm Belt Spacing.
One bearing on the top rod, two on the top, or the other way around.

but i have two bearing on the top...

i change the bearing or invert the motor?

Re: Titan Extruder probelms

OK, forget everything else, this is what you need to do:

The stock firmware will not work with the Titan extruder for 2 reasons:

1. It is a geared extruder system
2. The drive belt is anchored at the bottom

The effects of this are:

1. The filament is driven 3 times slower
2. The filament is possibly driven in reverse
3. The X axis motor direction is reversed.

The solution is to amend the firmware as follows:

1. Increase the extruder steps per mm
2. Possibly reverse the extruder motor
3. Reverse the X axis motor

At least one of these changes must be made in firmware, so you need to learn how to do that, and I suggest that as this is an E3D product, you should be asking them...

Re: Titan Extruder probelms

Yes, it will only be the firmware for now. You could do a search of my posts for terms like "arduino" and "repository" to get information as to what you need to do to amend the firmware.

There are 2 concerns I have with this extruder:

1. It looks as though all the weight is on the left, which may have the effect of twisting the whole extruder and result in premature wear of the bearings.
2. It looks like a large motor which may be wanting to draw more current than the setup is currently providing, hence another change to the firmware may be required to provide significantly more current to the motor.

It should be very light...

i don't know

i take the prusa kit just assembled

I did not think of having to hack firmware..

Re: Titan Extruder probelms

1. It's not a Prusa Kit, it's an E3D Prusa upgrade kit

2. They do warn you that it will not work with stock firmware.

I will see if PR has any plans to release firmware for this extruder kit.
