Terrible Clog
Hi guys!
I FINALLY got my printer working, (got the Triceratops to print!) but then I tried to print Adalinda and I left to go to work and came back to a terrible clog and my printer had run itself to death since I was using some old filament. I have no idea what to do. I assume I need to remove the nozzle somehow and unclog from there. What's the best way to fix this?
Thanks!
Justin

Re: Terrible Clog
Did the filament just break at the entry of the hotend? I had this happen to me (kids were messing around). I was able to clear it by setting the nozzle temp a little warmer (215 for PLA) and slowly pushing the old filament through the hotend with an 8" piece of straitened filament. Once the new color started oozing out of the nozzle I was able to unload the filament and proceed to load using what was in the roll.
Re: Terrible Clog
It broke and I tried pushing it through with new filament and nothing it coming out, but it's just stuck. No amount of force makes anything come out.
Re: Terrible Clog
I'm having the same problem except the clog is further down in the extruder for me. About 1.5 inches above the nozzle for me.
I talked to the support people and they said to heat the nozzle up to 270 and remove the nozzle with pliers. I never got this to work as the nozzle is on very tight and whenever I turn it the whole heater turns and since it's so hot there really insist any way to hold onto the heater to keep it still.
I've tried heating it up higher than 215 and push it through with another piece of filament and that didn't work either.
I've been trying to fix this for 2 days now, I've only had the printer for 2 days and haven't actually been able to print anything yet. I literally built the thing, put some filament in, removed the filament so that I could work on a couple things, and then realized that the nozzle was clogged when I went to put new filament in.
Re: Terrible Clog
Try out PJR's method for clearing the blockage.
