Strange problem with x or y axis

Hi,

When i'm printing i'm hearing a strange noise when the extruder reach a particular position, it's like is jumping. I've attached a photo.

I tryed to tight the pulleys of x and y motor but nothing change.

Do you have some suggestion??

Thank you for your help.

Hi Robert

I can't quite see what's wrong from your photo; looks like the seam and maybe the feed rate is a little too high.

That does not explain a noise though. What firmware version are you running? What material? What slicer?

Hi Peter,

thank you for your reply. The problem is the line that cross all the model.
I thought it was an hardware problem but maybe you are right, it could depend on how i slice it.

My firmware is version 2.2, i've created the model with 123D and sliced it with Slic3r using the configuration from Osx package downloaded from Prusa3d site.

The filament setting is 1.75mm.

I will try using the default configuration and try to figure out what's wrong with new settings.

Thx

Re: Strange problem with x or y axis

Hi Robert

There is a "thin wall calibration" you can do to check the amount of filament extruded (see attachment)

Also some slicers allow "seam hiding" by moving the layer start/end point on each layer. I do think you are extruding too much material which is exaggerating the seam.

Looks that in Slic3r you can optimize it in Printer Settings -> Retraction.

I'm changing this value trying to have a best result.

Do you know if is possible to find somewhere the configurations used to export the gcode of the Models included with printer?
They works fine.

Re: Strange problem with x or y axis

Hi Robert

I don't think retraction has anything to do with your problem.

With regard to the Slic3r settings, I believe that the settings used to produce the .gcode files are the same as the default settings provided by Josef with the drivers. You may also find the settings at the start of the .gcode files - you will need top open them with something like Notepad++ - they are plain text files and any comments regarding the settings used have a semi-colon prefix and appear at the start of the file.
