Stop Print - Extruder Keeps Going
Last couple of times I've had a failed print and needed to "Stop Print", the head stops, but the extruder keeps going, resulting in a small puddle under the head. The only way I can stop it is to shut the power off (and then back on so the fans kick in again). It isn't fatal, but more a pita. Anyone else run into this?
Re: Stop Print - Extruder Keeps Going
Hi Mitch,
there is a buffer hosting the last command (something like 16 I believe).
So you need to wait that the command in the buffer to be executed before a stop can happen. I presume you print through the SD card, but using a Octoprint solution seems to reduce this buffer. I let other users confirming that (Peter ?)
By the way, it's not a good thing to shutdown the printer when the extruder is hot, the fan is needed to keep the extruder house at proper temperature.
I'm like Jon Snow, I know nothing.

Yeah, Christophe has it spot on. Best way to stop a print though is to press the reset button just under the knob on the LCD panel.
The printer will stop and reset; the extruder fan will stop for a couple of seconds which will not do any harm.
