snapped of nozzle

So I managed a pretty silly move today, snapped the nozzle off in the heating block, will a screw extractor work or will I have to get a new heatblock?

Re: snapped of nozzle

You sheared of the nozzle and the threads are still inside?
Most likely it should be OK to extract the threads.
If the threading (and the rest) is not damaged, then you can just replace the nozzle..

Don't forget that you need to have the nozzle HOT when extracting the threaded bit.

hold the nozzle still with a spanner on the flats of the heat block.
Allow the screw extractor start to heat up too, otherwise the plastic around the nozzle will remain set and act as glue

I use coppaslip lubricant grease on the threads when I fit new nozzles, it helps to undo them in the future...
and the waste squirts out on the first prime after re starting the printer.

make sure you catch the first squirt of plastic in tissue or similar, so that you don't get lubricant on your hot bed.
