screeching sound when extruder moves quickly
My MK2 makes a screeching sound when the extruder assembly moves quickly from right to left. It sounds like a screeching car brake. Any idea what may cause this sound? Any lubrication needed?
Re: screeching sound when extruder moves quickly
this sound is generated by the ball bearings and the rods. check your zip-ties of the extruder carriage and make sure that the bearings are not wedged.
and of course: a slight lubrication can't hurt.
😀
(my grandpa used to say: "a drop of oil at the right place may replace a horse".)
also check that the x-belt idler is not blocked and that the x-belt tension is not tightened too high (that's what the two little screws at the right z-carriage are for).
last but not least: try to print in silent mode. if everything is set up correctly, you shouldn't get any problems (e.g. (x-axis) layer shift) during your print.

Just not on the break pads of your car 😀
Following your advice I relaxed the tension on the x-belt using the two little screws and applied a bit of oil between the idler and the plastic wall and so far so good. No screeching sound.
Thanks for your help!
