Re: Rattling noise on MK2 when bed is moving

Hello All;

First a thank you to all who post answers and suggestions here, in the forums in general and this thread in particular, it is always appreciated. I have solved a few problems on my kit built i3 MK2 with the aid of this forum and I must say I have not said thank you enough.

I have been a on a kill the dam rattle search for a few weeks now and have finally landed on my particular solution. With the belts squared up, the frames parallel, the bearings confirmed OK and the Z axis threaded rod holders checked I still had a rattle.

For me it was on the underside of the bed, the two screws that hold the Y drive belt to the bottom of the bed. The orange piece that holds the ends of the belt and attaches by these two screws to the bottom of the bed had worked loose. They are not readily visible when you invert the printer as they are covered by the belts. Easy enough to move to check but I had missed it on my inspections. :geek:

The quick X and sometimes Y movements would create the rattle and the bed seemed amplify it like a drum skin. The movement when I found it was very little, maybe 0.25mm but is was enough to create an irritating rattle.

Maybe, just maybe I should put away the small crafting hammer and remove my prints more gently? 😯

cheers all

mr

If you want something different for tomorrow you have to DO something different today. 💡

Re: Rattling noise on MK2 when bed is moving

Hi, got mine MK2S assembled. When I move the bed manually - I hear nothing, but when the Y-axis is moved by the motor - I hear some metallic rattle, like a multiple small parts are slightly bouncing against each other.

I think that the sound goes from under the heatbed, I double-checked the screws that connect the heatbed to the mount - all are tight. The next suspect is the bearings.

Is there something to be worry about, or I can live with it?

thanks!
