Probe will not align to home in x or y
I'm at a loss here. I got things assembled great, ran the selftest and it passed, BUT, the probe was clearly off by at least 2mm in X and Y. The problem is, if I adjust for Y by moving the left nuts, I can get the probe aligned on that axis but now the z screws hit the printed part at the top! Grrr.
Why is the probe off so much?
How do I adjust the home position without getting the z screws completely offset?
Furthermore, since X is controlled by software, why is it also off by 2-3mm at home???
Sigh.
Re: Probe will not align to home in x or y
Home position is not the same as probing position.
I really don't think you have a problem.

Re: Probe will not align to home in x or y
So "Auto Home" does not try and land the probe directly over the circle on the front left? How could a noob know this? And what sense does that make?
I will say though, I see the probe drop directly over that circle during calibration before print, and print is ok. Currently calibration says I am off slightly and it is correcting for the issue in software, but I've not successfully aligned things to get a "perfect" score.
Re: Probe will not align to home in x or y
Oh, also, Prusa's intro video ( at 7:55) clearly shows him running Auto Home, probe landing in circle, and pointing out that if it doesn't land there, to adjust the y-axis nuts. So yeah, that definitely led me to believe "Home" base was the probe circle, and I'm nowhere near it.
Bottom line:
One cannot adjust Y-axis to get the probe centered during Auto-Home without completely skewing the bed. Why? I figured out one critical design flaw: The power supply bracket is at a FIXED position, you CANNOT adjust the Y-axis on the right side of the machine (must remain at or near 100mm basically according to power supply width). This means that ANY adjustment to the Y-axis via the other side will ALWAYS change alignment of the bed, you CANNOT move both rails forward or backward together as a way to shift the probe but not skew the bed. Not sure why Prusa was suggesting this in that video!
Re: Probe will not align to home in x or y
You are not alone! I engineered the heck out of building my kit with ruler in hand every step of the way. My home position from the probe is off X and Y too. I need assistance if someone is willing to help me change the postion by adding Y +11 and X+2 to get my left "circle" to line up with the probe. This is not possible with changing the hardware. I thought about making spacers to the switches but there has to be a better way??
Re: Probe will not align to home in x or y
I have not had this problem, but some people have had zip ties that interfere with movement that caused an offset. Watch to see if something is touching or binding....
