There is another option. Using this http://www.banggood.com/3D-Printer-Parts-General-Add-on-Heated-Bed-Power-Expansion-Module-High-Power-For-Chitu-Motherboard-p-1086965.html you can experiment with different voltages and currents with no risk of damage to RAMBo. But it requires a bit of electrical knowlegde and experience.

Hello David, I ordered that little module. Thank you very much for the information.

Do we also need to modify the firmware of Rambo Mini? Below is an example which I found on net but not sure if it is a original prusa or a reprap. Modification is made throug repetier web site.

No. It should work with other components untouched. First install the module and don't change any other setting. Installing the module should have no impact on printer functionality or performance. You should only see your RAMBo connectors not overheating any more. Then you can begin experimenting with voltage. Always do only one adjustment at one time.

Thanks Peter for pointing out the 20A limit.

I think the extra power board would only make a difference if the RAMBo cannot cope with the current and either heats up or blows fuses.

If that is not the case, then Ohms law will determine how much current flows through the resistance of the heated bed at a given voltage.

If you increase the supply voltage, then the current will increase.

If you write Ohm law in this form:

P = V^2 / R

then you can calculate how much extra power you get by increasing the voltage.

I don't know the power or resistance of the heated bed, but it is not needed to calculate this.

12V x 12V x R = 144 V^2 ohm
13V * 13V * R = 169 V^2 ohm

169/144 = 1.174 , or a 17% increase in power output.

It's not difficult to estimate. RAMBo has the heatbed output protected by 15A fuse. So the resistance of heatbed is definitely not lower than 0.8 Ohm. 😉

Hello Murathan

Here is a different approach on the subject:
http://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/improvements-f14/mk2-heatbed-insulation-t1253.html

Or try to put your printer into an enclosure to help with heatup times, or both.

Maybe it helps, good luck.

Greetings
Florian

Many thanks, but this makes the bed cool slow also. 🙄
