Nylon printing problems
I have problems printing with nylon.
The part is meant to be a mould for epoxy resin and carbon fibre, so nylon should be suitable because the epoxy will not stick to it.
The part prints very nicely in PLA at a 45 degree angle, but printing it in Taulman Nylon 645 causes issues.
Printing it flat causes too much warping.
Printing it erect at 90 degree angle causes defects in the overhanging horizontal part.
Printing at 45 degree as shown is best so far, but small blobs of nylon are fouling the surface, particularly in the curved areas. The flat areas are mostly perfect.
How can I start to fix this? Print speed? Retraction parameters?
Thanks, Mik
Re: Nylon printing problems
Have you tried putting a very large box over the printer after it starts printing to keep some of the heat in? I know that nylon, like ABS, is particularly prone to warping due to uneven cooling.
Re: Nylon printing problems
I found while printing ABS yesterday that I needed a squeaky clean bed (cleaned with isopropyl alcohol) and a good amount of brim to keep my prints down on the MK2.
Re: Nylon printing problems
Thanks guys,
I use a box, but the warping remains a problem
The printed part shown above would be OK wirhout the blobs.
