Nozzle too high

I recently replaced my extruder thermistor after the wires broke during a print failure. When I attempted to recalibrate, the Z height just won't calibrate properly. The nozzle tip is about 5 mm above the heat bed and will not go any lower during Z calibration, XYZ calibration or Auto Home. Adjusting the PINDA probe height doesn't cause the nozzle to get closer to the heat bed and that height is way too high for the live adjust Z compensation to help. What could be the matter?

Re: Nozzle too high

Check if the PINDA probe is 'triggering' way too high up.

You can tell by the orange light on top of it. It goes out when it senses proximity to the metal parts in the bed.

A broken PINDA cable can sometimes cause this. Intermittent contact can cause baffling behaviors.

It was indeed the PINDA probe. Just replaced it and the printer is now back in action after sitting dormant for some months. Glad to have it back. Time to print. 😀
