Kit quality is amazing - Well Done!

My kit arrived on Wed, last week and I was finally able to start building Friday night. I am totally new to 3d Printing, and have been studying the market for the past few months trying to decide how to get into the hobby. I had originally been focused on a Taz 5, but after further research and hearing about the advantages of building from scratch or a kit, I decided on the original Prusa i3 kit, and boy am I glad that I did.

I spent a good part of the day Saturday building and got all the electronics completed but not verified Saturday night. This morning I spend some time putting together a consolidated electronics cheat sheet so I could verify everything and then finished the last bit of cleanup and started printing. If you're interested in the cheat sheet here it is: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzjdHLt5kfz5RjFKUWtVNXA5UWc/view?usp=sharing

The kit instructions were fantastic, very clear, and the high-resolution photos on the web version of the manual were a life saver. Everything went together amazingly well and the print quality out of the box has been phenomenal, and I haven't done any real calibration yet. Going through the build exercise has been a tremendous learning experience and I think I'm now much better prepared to maintain the printer.

So far, I've only been printing a collection of things from thingiverse, and some of the examples, but I couldn't have asked for any better results.

Truly an amazing job putting together this kit -- my hats off to Josef and team.

If I had some way of sending you a Trdelník, I would. 🙂

Thanks again.

Ray

As a very new builder/owner of the same device I couldn't agree more with you. 😀
Have fun.

This sounds like a cheap advertisement but it's true, the printer is fantastic.
At this point for me it's just : turn it on, insert card and print. Wake up in the morning and find a gift waiting for you on the printbed 🙂
My current filament of choice is Polymaker Polymax. The PLA that came with the printer was quite good but Polymax really gets you to the next level as far as printing high quality objects. Of course it's more expensive.
I also tried Polyflex. That works ok I guess, but I haven't found the perfect settings. For now, I am not going to dive further into the flexible filaments, I am having too much fun with PLA.
The quality/price of this Prusia kit is sky high.

Couldn't agree more. Bought a kit for home about a month ago. If I'm awake, the printer is on. Now have a 2nd one at the office. Took 30min to convince the CIO that this would be an innovation tool for the company.
