Extruder Skipping?

I've been running some prints and ran into this, the extruder seems to skip and doesn't lay down a line of filament like it usually does. Could it be a feed rate issue?

Re: Extruder Skipping?

Hey Nathan,

If your extruder is clicking sounds like your tension pulley for the filament is too tight. Loosen the spring nuts and measure the spring to ensure its ~13mm long on each nut. If that is where you have it now then back off the spring screws about 1mm each time and test until the clicking stops. If you continue to use it with the clicking it will ruin the pulley gear on the extruder shaft.

If the filament is not liquid enough it can't be pushed through the nozzle, so try increasing the nozzle temperature in small steps.

Try Malcinator's and am's suggestions.

Also, when I'm getting issues with extrusion and extruder skipping, its often connected with that I've switched filament types alot.
I then use the eSun cleaning filament, and that cleans out the nozzle for me.
