Changed Y bearings, can't get XY perpendicular anymore
I had no problem getting the axes perpendicular when building and then the second time when helping a friend. I'd like to think I know how to do it.
However, now that I've changed the stock MK2S bearings with RJ4JP, I can't for the life of me get the XY axes perpendicular again. I've measured everything down to a millimeter (or better, I have a very accurate tape). I must have gone over the calibration at least 10 times, micro adjusting the frame and yet I still always get "XY axes slightly skewed".
Could it be that the new bearings are the problem? There's a minuscule play in them before I screw them in place, but once I do, they seem to squeeze together tightly and there's no play at all afterwards. The sliding resistance is about the same as with the stock bearings. I've also tightened the belt again, as it became a bit loose since the initial build, so the belt should be ok.
What am I missing? Any suggestions are much appreciated, thanks!

Not sure if this is a good approach or if I got lucky, but what I finally did after countless attempts, was make sure all my measurements were spot on, then slightly loosened the 'outer nuts' and sat the printer on my level concrete floor and pressed all four corners down to ensure they were flat. I then tightened everything back up, ran my calibration again and got my first perfect calibration.
I got the idea from a wood planter I'd built for my wife where everything measured perfect square, but didn't sit flat. 😀

Axes slightly skewed should not be a problem. The machine calculates that out. While nice to be perfect it is not needed.

Hey Robert, thanks for getting back to me. I did think of that as well, so I did the trick that's in the online manual - use two spanners to push rods in the opposite directions. It didn't do much good though. In the end, I took everything apart again, re-squared the Y frame from scratch and everything from there onward and it finally worked. No idea what was wrong in the first place, as I only had to do very minor changes.
