Caveat : Check the height of your object before you try to print

The subject says it all.

I grabbed a likely stl off one of the websites and sliced it. Moved the gcode to my sd card and launched a 14 hour print. Still running in the morning, so I went to work. Came back to check and found myself very lucky.

Z had maxed out before reaching the top of the object and the head had continued printing at the same level.

It was an open hexagonal sided vase so luckily the hot nozzle remelted the previous layer and continued to spew a thread of PLA which the fan must have blown away from the print. Could have been so much worse.

Please learn from my mistake, and do check the dimensions of any file you download.

cheers,

Bill
