Benchy help

When I print Benchy i keep getting the same hiccup. All other issues have been resolved with jerk settings or cooling. But everytime the printer gets to this point in the wall portion it's like it chatters or stutters going around the curve in the front and the back corners.

Each picture is a separate benchy.

I've had some similar results on other models, and I've been messing with the extra restart distance value in S3D, although some times it helps, sometimes it doesn't.

Also it might be temp related? Try to test some different temperatures when it reaches that part? Or just try to rotate the Benchy 90 degrees on the build plate, to see if that makes a difference?

I've been using cura myself. been tinkering with the temps and some speeds, but its almost like its mechanical. it runs real smooth till it gets to the curve then chatters and stutters around it. I'm printing out the frog now. See what comes of it.

I'll try and rotate it, its a new idea.

Re: Benchy help

Thomas Sanladerer (Tom's 3D) discussed exactly this issue with a benchy in his Live Print fixing stream (based on a picture i submitted). He gave a bunch of tips on how to get rid of this problem here: Starting at minute 22:00

I went the lazy route and stuck to the pla brand from the benchy on the right. Problem gone.

Re: Benchy help

Also maybe try printing in the correct orientation. Ie with the bottom of the boat flat on the bed. Just a suggestion.

Re: Benchy help

I don't think anybody is actually printing their benchies like that,
it's just easier to take a picture of the bow that way.. 😉

Re: Benchy help

@Stephen.k I think that that sucks and is missleading, Showing photos on the printbed is not the way to show unless truly on the printbed. 😉 Show on another bed away from the Prusa I3 ie on the bed you sleep in, or the flowerbed in your garden or maybe on a flat surface like a table place mat, any flat surface away and not from the printer surface you printed on but shown in non printed orientation 🙂 < you do know I am joking, right.

Re: Benchy help

Also just try another slicer as well.
In my current setup, S3D gives me more details, but prints sliced in slic3r gives me a better finish/surfaces.

Re: Benchy help

Thanks for all the help guys, sorry for the late response I've been away. Lowering the bed temp is probably the one thing I havent done yet and now that I think about it, its probably one of the more obvious things. Also have started poking around different slicers.

Thanks Again.
