Bed not heating, print won't start

I've been using Prusa i3 original for a while now. My issue is that the bed is not heating and prints won't start.

Issues:
When I try to print nothing happens
The LED on the heat bed is not on anymore

Checked
The cable on the bottom of the heatbed looks fine
The fuses are ok

I think it might be the heat bed connector is slightly burnt. Has anyone else had this problem? Does this mean the connector needs to get replaced? Are there any other troubleshooting steps I can take?

Thanks!!

Will P

Yes, this does happen too often.

Forum search will tell you what to do, for example: http://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/search.php?keywords=solder

Something is clearly not right with this connector. There are too many burnt connectors here... A bit scary ! 😕

I have to say that I have a tendency to agree with you. In fact, I think that all the bed heater components are somewhat under-rated.

I have always been careful to ensure the connectors are inserted properly and with proper cable management, however, on my old Mk1, the heater cable broke internally after about 9 months use. I checked out a replacement and decided on heavy duty speaker cable. Then about a month after replacing the cable, the connector burned out.

So, my old Mk1 (which is now a Mk2S with MM upgrade) has a soldered connector for the bed. Since soldering and installing the better cable, I have had no issues whatsoever.
