Bad quality parts

Hello,

Did anyone else receive a printer kit with extremely poor quality printed parts. I have had some trouble with Y axis parts, bag 2 and now have trouble with extruder parts, bag 5. Both were stamped picker 41. Some pictures of what I'm talking about are below. I am wondering 2 things.

1) is this very common? I feel with how much this kit costs, there should be better quality control.

2) will this effect my print quality. I don't want to assemble the whole thing and then take it apart because the print quality suffers due to bad parts.

There is layer separation on this part of the extruder assembly too.

Right half of extruder is extremely pours and there is lots of layer separation.

Problems were not just limited to these two parts. They were just some of the worst and easy to photograph once I had decided that the poor quality parts too bad to accept.

Re: Bad quality parts

I just unwrapped mine, and the print quality looks to be just passable. My first fear was that maybe this printer isn't as good as I thought it would be (parts are all printed on Prusa i3 print farm) and my second fear was that my print quality would suffer from it.
Looking at the popularity of the printer, and how long production is backlogged, I realise that they are trying to bang out as many of these things as possible to keep up with demand. if they printed on highest quality settings, I'm sure I would have had to wait another 2 months to get a hold of the thing. My parts look just good enough to assemble, so as long as it is able to be calibrated, I'm just going to start printing assemblies at higher res and slower speeds and replace assembly blocks as I go along. From what I have seen from Prusa, they have probably carefully considered how far they can push production speed while keeping their product working properly.

I guess I'll find out soon enough. Im very happy to have finally received the printer.

Re: Bad quality parts

i assume that prusa has pushed the output of the factory street to it's limits, because of the high demand.
and pushing things to it's limits often has a bad effect to quality.

dem inscheniör is' nix zu schwör...

Don't worry too much about the parts. If something indeed affects print quality, I'm sure support can get you replacements. While assembling mine last week, I've only had two tiny separated last layer bits, once for the entry point of the filament (right under the pulley; which it collided with) and one inside a square nut trap. If such things happen, just clean them with a sharp knife or scissors. Also keep in mind the extruder parts are made from ABS rather than PLA, so expect differences. But for me there's nothing to worry about, those are mostly cosmetic.
