Assembly Question - Y-Axis

On page 7 of 24 it says to "Adjust and tighten the M8n nuts" then "Rotate the Y-axis stage and repeat". Is this simply "squeezing" the rods against the frame to have consistent spacing?

Re: Assembly Question - Y-Axis

the placement of the nuts on the 8mm rods allows you to adjust the spacing between the 10mm rods.

the plan is to offer the 10mm studs up to the slots in the aluminium frame, then adjust the 8mm studs till the 10 mm rods drop smoothly into the frame,
then you turn the Y assembly round and adjustt the other end...

I did this a couple of times to make sure that the first end is still the correct distance apart...

hope that makes sense

Personally, I find the following diagram most useful:

Dimensions PNG

and an 8 inch (200mm) or greater caliper is recommended.

Thank you both.

I read in one of the threads someone designed a jig for this, but it is predicated on having a printer that is properly aligned to print it out in the first place. 😀

Hopefully this will make more sense as well when I receive my kit. I am pre-reading the instructions to get some familiarity before the kit arrives. Maybe 2-3 more weeks before it ships!
