Anyone buy the MK upgrade?

I placed my order yesterday.

I honestly can't wait to NOT CALIBRATE or prepare my heat bed again. I really hope it heats up faster. My current printer takes 15 minutes to heat the bed and if there's an issue it can cause huge delays in my prints.

I'll let you know how it goes when I get my kit.

Ordering mine this weekend.

I doubt the heatup time will be less since the area is larger and you will still be limited to the power supplied by the rambo mini.

If you truly want to cut down on bed heatup times you should consider using a relay. I am using one on my 12"x12" Voxel printer and I can warm up the bed to 100C in just a couple minutes. On my Prusa it takes at least 15 minutes to get to 85C and that is with it completely insulated.

Re: Anyone buy the MK upgrade?

I debated with myself whether I "needed" the upgrade for a whole 20 seconds, and then submitted the order on Tuesday. 🙂

Now I make a daily visit to the Mk2 Assembly Instructions page to see what's new while I wait for the upgrade kits to be released/shipped.

John,

While the stand alone Mk2 kits are shipping now, I don't think the upgrade kits are suppose to be released until early June. And then you have to wait for your spot in the preorder queue to come around.

Savor the anticipation. 😉

Absolutely, I ordered mine on Tuesday. At the time I was told that my spot was about 10 days out from the release day, I guess I should have ordered sooner. haha.

yeah,

I haven't been this excited since I was a kid on christmas. I had a list of upgrades I was researching

1. upgrading the bed for faster/better heating
2. inductive leveling.

Something told me to check out the site and when I saw the upgrade kit I was like "Oh yeah!" I already have an E3d V6 but I could always use a spare.

Re: Anyone buy the MK upgrade?

Yes. I hesitated a few days but don't regret it. Before buying my Prusa i3 I was very close to choosing a Lulzbot Mini. However I didn't like that the Lulzbot was still utilizing 3mm filament, had a smaller build volume, and lacked the ability out-of-box to print from SD card. This upgrade gives me the features of the Lulzbot I really wanted, auto bed leveling and the PEI build surface.

Re: Anyone buy the MK upgrade?

For those of us "patiently" waiting for our Mk2 upgrade kits to ship, Josef just posted a Mk2 New User Guide on his YouTube Channel

It does a great job of going over all the final setup and calibration steps for the Mk2.
(....but a terrible job of making the wait for my upgrade kit any easier. 😆 )

Nice video !

But subtitle should be doubled-checked, there are many ... strange transcript to fix

Just an example: "printing that those who sexually so high that they didn't stick to the bad so" at least I had a good laugh 😀 😀 😀

Re: Anyone buy the MK upgrade?

The only thing I don'd understand with the upgrade-kit is: Why are the printed parts always shipped as well? It should be possible to choose "I'll print them by myself" and get a discount. This would reduce the production time and therefore the shipping time.

That is from our experience, users are eager to build asap, but if they start the upgrade process and find out some part was printed badly they are not happy.

Re: Anyone buy the MK upgrade?

From that point of view your are right. Nothing worse than disassembling the whole thing and than realising that something just doesnt fit 😀

Re: Anyone buy the MK upgrade?

Taken the plunge and ordered the upgrade. I am terrible at getting the bed calibrated so I am looking forward to getting it!! All that's left to make this the perfect printer for me will be a dual extruder upgrade! 😀

Do you think I can use this kit on a prusa steel?

Unless you are very skilled, it will be very hard to port it :-/
