Trouble with settings for 0.2 mm nozzle
Hi everyone,
I swapped my 0.4 mm nozzle for a 0.2 nozzle, but I can't seem to find the right setting to print with it.
My prints look bad and the changes to the settings I have tried didn't help much.I never had problems with the 0.4 mm nozzle.
I printed these with Prusa PLA at a layer hight of 0,05 mm
These are a summary of the settings I use, but the full list is added in the pastebin below:
Layer height = 0.05
Speed = 20 mm/s
Extrusion width = 0.225
Extrusion multiplier = 1
Min fan speed = 100%
Nozzle diameter = 0.2
Retract length = 0.8
Temperature = 210
Re: Trouble with settings for 0.2 mm nozzle
0.2 mm nozzle at 0.05mm layer height is really pushing the envelope.
the Bondtech gears are larger diameter than the old mk2 extruder, and they are probably struggling to make the small filament moves that the model needs.
may I suggest that you try larger layer heights and see what can be achieved in reality.

Maybe an 0.9 degree stepper motor for the extruder is the solution ?

Re: Trouble with settings for 0.2 mm nozzle
Thanks for the answers.
I did some calculations and it looks like that is the problem. I will probably have to switch to a geared extruder to print with a very small nozzle and small layer hight.
I will try to print increasing the layer hight and share what results I get.
Re: Trouble with settings for 0.2 mm nozzle
I already get way better results by raising the layer hight to 0.1 mm
Now I will try to get rid of the stringing as much as possible and try to get the outer layers a little smoother.
I will share my settings as soon as I'm happy with the results I'm getting in case anyone wants to try them out.
