Slicer Settings
Hi, I am trying to use a different nozzle to speed build a less critical product.
however I am having a little bother...
the product is a box.
the top is shallower than the bottom and I am printing both parts at the same time
it takes about 10 hours to print, so I am leaving the printer unattended.
Last run I got this
As you can see, the box is generally OK...,
the oval part is going to have an inset glued into it, so it's not a problem...
but the surface seems :
1, A bit thin... it's supposed to be 5 layers at 0.3mm and it's near see through...
2, seems to have bad deposition / adhesion

Re: Slicer Settings
It's supposed to look like this
I have attached the Gcode, in a file but I had to make the suffix .JPG to get it accepted...
Hope this helps
regards Jon

Re: Slicer Settings
Hi There
If you need to upload files to this site, then simply zip them up before uploading.
First thing to do is to identify whether it's a printer or slicer issue and the best way to do this is to print one of the GCode files that was supplied on the SD card.
Do this and let us know whether that prints OK and we can then take this further.

EDIT: you mention 0.3mm layer height, can you also please let me know the extrusion width, material, print speed and temperature.

Re: Slicer Settings
Hi Peter,
I had had a few duff prints with a few different settings. and had been "Playing around" with settings.
I believe it was 210 degrees and default extrusion set to 0 "Automatic" (Basically the 0.25 settings with default changed to "0")
As a teat piece I had taken a small section of the model, containing 'Repeating' Artifacts, and printed that successfully...
the Bottom of the case printed satisfactorily.
as you can see above
Overnight I started another print, and made Six changes from the 0.25 draft settings:
First Layer 0.3
Layer Height 0.3
Infill 10% (original model was 15% and weighed nearly 250grams)
Loops Minimum 3 (So I could see if the extrusion was good and check bed level, crudely)
First layer temp 215 degrees
Layer Temp 215 degrees...
and although the model is still printing, the shorter top section has completed and it looks good...
(However the Re Slice, has left the area within the oval exposed...) this is not a real problem because the owners label will be bonded to the spine
in this area
As you can see, the box looks OK!

Re: Slicer Settings
Hi Joan
So it seems you have resolved the issues? Regarding infill, have a look at this:
I tend to use 5% for most prints, sometimes I leave them empty, although for your box I would use the 5% with the slicer I use (KISSlicer). Other slicers would require a greater infill percentage.
