Re: Slic3r support over brim
This makes sense actually. it is not possible as of today.
Re: Slic3r support over brim
bummer... 😛
Re: Slic3r support over brim
Super unfortunate. Running into the same issue today. What's more unfortunate is that the way support is auto-generated, there's no reason for any overhang on to the build plate anyway. The entire overhung structure is directly above the object's lower layers. Weirdly, of S3D, S3R, and Cura, cura's the only one that generated the kind of support I'd expect. And getting it at all in S3D is basically impossible.
My object is a corner brace for flat sheets - square corners of ~4mm thick corrugated plastic fit into the slots. Since there are 3, it's necessary to print at least one overhung.
Cura seems to get it optimal given what I'd expect (and with excellent results):
Slic3r seems to do a whole bunch of weird stuff:
and Simplify3D brings the support out to overhang the build plate for no obvious reason:
Re: Slic3r support over brim
How's the planning? It would be nice if I had the brim on the out-/inside wall. Thank you very much!
Feature Request: Slic3r support over brim
That would be a really smart feature. Please consider Prusa.
RE: Slic3r support over brim
Feature requests are a lot more likely to be noticed and gain traction if submitted to the appropriate Prusa github page!
